Movie No. 69 (2018): HOUSE OF GAMES

House of Games (1987)
Director: David Mamet
Cast: Lindsay Crouse, Joe Mantegna, J.T. Walsh

I saw House of Games on VHS in late 1990s. I remember I was blown away by its clever plot. That was the first time I knew about David Mamet. House of Games made me see Mamet's other movies. That was a good decision. I became a fan.

Having seen House of Games for the second time, I feel a better appreciation of the movie. I still find the plot and twists awesome. I like how the script explores trust, betrayal, and the 'art' of confidence game. What makes the plot cleverer is throwing into the narrative a psychiatrist who falls prey into the game and how she turns the table. Wonderful.
