Film Review: Bridesmaids
BRIDESMAIDS
(Paul Feig, 2011)
When
her childhood best friend (Lillian) announces she’s getting married, and wants
her to be the maid of honor, Annie’s world gets threatened by possibly losing
her best friend forever. Annie is broke. She has just lost her bakeshop and
boyfriend. Her friendship with Lillian is the only thing that makes her happy.
This gets threatened when Lillian’s new friend gets into the scene, trying to
control all the preparations for the matrimony.
The cast of Bridesmaids |
The
film is funny, almost hilarious, but not in a way pretentious. It’s populated
with interesting characters, specially the other bridesmaids. The writing is
fine and smart. Kristen Wiig, the lead actress, co-wrote the film.
Think
of My Best Friend’s Wedding with more heart.
