A random call holds a college guy (Ryan) practically hostage to a situation he's not even sure if real or prank. Jessica Martin, a science teacher, claims he's in trouble, actually a hostage thugs who need something from her husband. The call is through a smashed telephone in the attic that Jessica has tried to assemble; she's made a call that Ryan picks up. From here it's a roller-coaster ride. Is it entertaining? For me, yes. It may not be the best movie of the genre but it's decent enough to sustain suspense. Kim Basinger gives a performance her character demands.
