If there's one thing that stands out in the movie, it's the performance of Elsie Fisher as Kayla. It's easy to see how vulnerable, fragile, but determined Kayla is in dealing with growing pains of adolescence. Adding to her 'troubles' is how her single father sees her.

The movie is an eye opener. It is sweet. Some scenes are painful to watch. It projects realities that are bitter pills to swallow, but we swallow anyway. It is honest. It is angry. It gives hope. It is universal.
