Lust, Caution

In LUST, CAUTION (2007) , a troupe of drama students from Hong Kong scheme a plot to kill a Chinese official, Mr. Yee, who works for the Japanese in the Japanese-occupied Shanghai. Each one plays a role. One is to seduce Mr. Yee by befriending his wife and finally engaging in an amorous and erotic affair with him, with a heartbreaking finale.

This is a tale of patriotism, lust, and betrayal. I like this film despite its being another departure from the director’s (Ang Lee) other movies such as Sense and Sensibility, The Ice Storm, Hulk, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain. I heard he’s going to film Yann Martel’s Life of Pi.
