Isaac Bashevis Singer: SATAN IN GORAY

Satan In Goray is a Polish folk tale that the Nobel Laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer had transformed into literature. The people in the little town of Goray (in Poland), awaits the coming of the Messiah. These people are those who survived the massacre, who fled and lived in exile in other places, and who have returned to Goray years after. The book exposes violence and religious hysteria these people have to endure everyday while waiting for the coming of the Messiah. But, it is Satan who comes instead.

The book is brilliant, well-written, however, scary.
