Boy met girl (or, the other way). Boy and girl fell in love. Boy and girl went separate ways, with circumstances unclear. Several years after, boy and girl met again. Girl tried to win boy back, but the situation was different now.

The movie presents, if not slowly, the reason (or reasons) of the breakup, in a manner that, as the movie moves forward, the characters (boy and girl) and the viewing audience learn about the revelations as scenes after scenes move backwards and forwards. 

The film is generally funny and entertaining. What I admire about the movie is it's never resorting to a contrived ending that will please the "palate" of the general viewing public. At least, the ending is sensible and realistic.
