That's a good premise for a science fiction movie. But, alternate to the task given to the team is a very personal motivation of each member to investigate in Area X. The characters' back stories strengthen the narrative. This, I think, is more important than the visual aspect of the movie. This said, I have to commend the movie for its impressive visua effects that complement the beautiful cinematography. The cast are awesome.
The movie inspires pondering on certain questions that the movie lays down. It belongs to a certain sci-fi/horror sub-genre that provokes thinking. It is smart. It is really entertaining.
