Amos Oz: BLACK BOX

Told in terms of letters and telegrams exchange between characters, the novel exposes the anatomy of a marriage that crashed seven years earlier. When the child, now a teenager, becomes rebellious and out of control, the wife gets an excuse to write to her ex-husband, thus, initiating the opening of a plethora of tensions. It is like a scratching of old scars causing fresh cuts and wounds.

Like the information that we get from the black box when a planes crashes to understand what has caused the crash, contents of the letters and telegrams exchanged between characters make us understand what went awry to cause the marriage to crash.

This is the third book of Amos Oz that I’ve read so far. It is one of my best reading experiences.
