In this novel Yasunari Kawabata used simple yet powerful sentences to artfully narrate a tale of resentment and revenge. Reading the novel, I felt every tension, indignation, tinge of left-over love, and jealousy that Kawabata had masterfully woven using his simple sentences that are dense with nuances.
