They are released, but, soon after they're son gets missing.

The movie spends most of the time with Sara and Lando looking for their son. In the process, we meet several characters. Their stories and connection with Sara and Lando make us understand back stories. Alix used actors who had worked with him in his past movies as cameos playing these characters. This is my major complaint. These famous actors playing cameos are actually distractions. This decision only dilutes the narrative.
This obviously Gina Alajar's movie. Her Sara is a convincing as she is presented as influential herself to the other characters presented in the narrative.
