Movie No. 24 (2020): ALONE/TOGETHER

Alone/Together (2019)
Director: Antoinette Jadaone
Cast: Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil
In Tagalog, with English subtitles

Locally, a typical romantic movie is about how a couple is happy and excited about their relationship, the conflict that'll make them estranged or keep them from being just happy, the turn of events that will make their paths cross again, and the happy ending or a suggestion that everything will be fixed in time. Alone/Together seems to have followed the formula, with some plus. I like the way the couple is made to do relatable things at the time they're happy and excited about their relationships. But, the breakup is just like that: vague. That's why it's so difficult to understand the couple's secretly wanting to be together again, when they're already committed to other people.
Liza Soberano is good in parts when she's not crying or sad. Enrique Gil appears like he's too conscious to look good on screen.

That ending, for me, is a fan bait.
