Cees Nooteboom: IN THE DUTCH MOUNTAINS

This is the book that I finished reading while on a Manila-bound plane (from Busuanga, Palawan) that got diverted to Clark's DMIA. The novel tells the story of an unsuccessful writer who writes a fairy tale in an empty class room. It is intertwined with the fairy tale that the author writes: that of circus performer (Lucia) who must rescue Kai from the clutches of the evil Snow Queen. Who lives happily ever after?

This is the first novel by the renowned and critically-acclaimed Dutch writer (Cees Nooteboom) that I've ever read. This makes me crave for some of his other works.
