At the time the movie was shown in local theaters, it became the second highest grossing local movie in Taiwan. First, it is of the romance-comedy genre. Second, it features teenage characters. Usually, this is the kind of movie that becomes a hit at the box office anywhere in the world. But, what is interesting about the movie is it's deviation from one cardinal rule of the genre - that love conquers all. It is clear from the start that the main protagonists don't end up together. Between the beginning and ending, we witness an almost refreshing treatment of the narrative. That ending is refreshing, an inventive take in suggesting moving forward, renewed friendships, and maturity. Playful, raunchy, sensible, heartfelt, and tense. Even certain objects are used to sustain fluid narrative flow.
