Will loathes civilization. So, he takes his daughter in the forest. There, they live an uncomplicated life. They've been living in the forest for some years. But, it appears that Will's action is a manifestation of PTSD. One day, they're seclusion gets shaken when a random jogger spots them. Authorities bring them back to civilization. Will tries to re-adapt, but only for a few days. He decides to go back to the forest. However, his daughter sees the difference and appears to have adapted to the new experience in the midst of civilization.
The movie is unique; its theme is very universal. Its message is powerful. If these were not based on true events, it would be hard to believe. Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie make wonderful performances. Cinematography, with its wide takes and long shots, succeeds in delivering the point that some particularly scenes try to deliver. For example: Will or his daughter sometimes almost disappearing in the vastness of the forest.
